Conservative Councillors launch new community bus route

A community bus service picked up its first passengers this week.

North Somerset Council is running two buses, in partnership with Weston and District Community Transport, which will follow routes around Worlebury, Weston town centre and the Shrubbery.

The Shrubbery has been without a bus service in recent months, but the mini-bus’ smaller size has meant it will be able to get around the difficult roads.

The neighbourhood group has described a Shrubbery bus service as a ‘lifeline’ as it can be difficult for people to get into town by other means.

The C1 and C2 buses are replacing the 106 service, which was run by Crosville Motor Services and then Carmel Bristol on an interim basis.

Councillor Roz Willis met with the first passengers in Worlebury on Tuesday, while Cllr John Crockford-Hawley and Cllr Elfan Ap Rees launched the C2 service in Shrubbery Avenue.
